My family and I came to the Gatlinburg area this summer for a family vacation. Being a life-long Wisconsin trout fisherman, I was super interested in the urban trout fishing opportunity in Gatlinburg outside of all the other numerous attractions in the area. After a few days with 0 luck I stumbled into a nearby market that was selling lures made by a local fisherman named Ashely Shults. His baits packaging has an email to contact him, which I did, and he responded very shorty giving me his phone number. I called him and he gave me great information in regard to the what’s and how’s of Gatlinburg trout fishing.

After taking his recommendations, my daughter and I went out a couple days later in the morning and we finally were able to connect with some Rainbows. We caught a number of trout with many more follows. We threw them all back but had the best time!

Super impressed with folks like Ashley that not only offer a decent product but are vested in your success. I’m a fan and plan to take some of his lures back to my Wisconsin streams.

Great quality spinners. Not all spinners are created equal, and if you fish much then you already know there is a difference between a quality spinner made with quality materials and the other cheap crap. I personally like the Papaw style spinner for its simplicity, and the rainbows in East TN agree with me.

These spinners are amazing! They can literally catch any species of fish, and work amazing! These are my personal preference for trout fishing!

Hands down awesome!!!! Unfortunately I have only fished with these in saltwater as of right now, but I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do with them in freshwater. I took a trip to Gulf Shores Alabama back in September. Right before I left I kept saying I need to find something small and flashy that I can throw in the lights at night. See I already took one trip to Gulf Shores back in the spring, we caught fish but I felt like if we down sized our baits our hook up ratio would improve. So leading up to our trip in September I talked with Ashley a few times about the lures he makes. I asked him if I could get a few from him to take on my trip, he hooked me up the day before I was supposed to leave. I am not going to lie, I was worried about how well they would hold up. After a week of catching red fishand speckled trout, I was blown away. I used one spinner all week long, the main wire held up and didn’t bend not one time. I changed the hook out a couple times and changed my leader line when it was frayed. I would recommend anybody trying these little suckers, they may be small but boy are the tough.

Rough water lures is an amazing veteran owned company. everything is hand made and a great quality. I also own multiple pieces of merch that are very good quality. I’ve had amazing success using his products and other people using his lures have had great success as well. yall need to check them out.

My dad passed away in November ‘23. He was a crappie fisherman. The team at Rough Water made me a couple lures and shared them with me after the funeral. I used them the next time I went fishing without the old man. I caught three small mouth down at the dam in LC. Didn’t get a crappie, but watching those smallies hit that lure brought a smile to my face knowing how much dad would have loved seeing the blow up. I recommend them to everyone now, regardless of what species you are fishing for, they’ll catch something fun!

Hands down some of the best lures you can buy. Not only are they top quality they are specifically designed and matched to mimic the majority of food sources found in the southeast ponds, streams and rivers. Veteran owned and operated so you know you are getting the best quality product backed by personal excellence. These are always great for personal use or fantastic gift ideas and even stocking stuffers! Give them a shot! You will not be disappointed.

These are hands down some of the best and strongest spinners of all time. I am all about quality American made products and highly recommend Rough Water Lures.
